Ontario has a population of over 12,861,940 and is located toward the central part of Canada. Ontario is bordered by the provinces of Manitoba to the west, Quebec to the east, and the (U.S.) states of Michigan, New York, Minnesota, Ohio and Pennsylvania (at Lake Erie).

The northern and the central portions, which covers over half the land area in the province, though mostly infertile land, is rich in minerals and studded with lakes and rivers.
